Executive Order 14399
Executive Order 14399, signed March 31, 2026, by the President, Ensuring Citizenship Verification and Integrity in Federal Elections, means you may have to go to the election office for your ballot this year.
Washington State has refused to supply its voter registration roll to the U.S. Government. The postal service will not be able to send your ballot, as our names will not appear on the roll — so the post office cannot send the ballot to you.
What This Means for You
If your name does not appear on the verified roll, your ballot may not be mailed to you automatically. Plan to go to the Skagit County election office to obtain and cast your ballot this year.
Stay informed, check with the Skagit County Auditor's Elections Division, and make a plan to vote in person if your ballot does not arrive by mail.
And in the 2026 election: write in our candidates for Coroner, Sheriff, Treasurer, and Clerk — people who will honor their oath.
